POLICY ON GRANTING FACULTIES TO DEACONS
INCARDINATED IN OTHER DIOCESES

I. Permanent deacons incardinated in another diocese but now resident in the Diocese of San Diego and seeking diocesan faculties to minister here must provide the Office for the Permanent Diaconate with the following documents:

A. Letters of recommendation from their former bishop, pastor and/or equivalent person(s), and diaconate director.

B. A curriculum vitae.

C. A complete description of formation prior to ordination.

D. A summary of ongoing formation and diaconal assignments.

II. If all is in order, the director of the Office for the Permanent Diaconate will assist the deacons in exploring ministerial opportunities.

A. The policy on the assignment of deacons will be followed.

B. The director of the Office for the Permanent Diaconate will make a recommendation to the bishop regarding the granting of faculties and assignment.
