ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL

Dear Friends in Christ,

As the baptized children of God, anointed in his Spirit and nourished at the table of the Eucharist, we are CALLED to life in communion with Jesus, and we are SENT to continue his mission:

In the Diocese of San Diego one important way we do this year after year is by our contributions to the Annual Catholic Appeal.

A BRIEF CASE STATEMENT FOR THE ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL

Annual Catholic Appeal contributions will be used in the Diocese of San Diego to support the following:

1. Catholic Charities

Catholic Charities is our primary diocesan social service agency. Through it, we assist almost 300,000 people each year by providing a network of important programs and services.

2. Priestly and Religious Vocations

Our ongoing prayer and financial support are necessary in promoting vocations to the priesthood and religious life and in the formation of candidates.

3. Parishes and Schools in Need

Some of our parishes and parochial schools struggle financially and need our assistance to provide basic facilities and programs.

4. Marriage and Family Life

Another of our priorities is to assist parishes in providing good programs of preparation for marriage and for marriage and family enrichment.

5. Youth and Young Adults

We are attempting to offset the negative influences which bombard our youth and young adults today by fostering efforts and offering programs which will promote their human and spiritual growth and development.

6. Religious Education

Time, talent and treasure are needed to offer culturally sensitive evangelization and systematic catechesis to all Catholics, whether children, youth or adults, and to reach out to those interested in becoming Catholics.

Valley Parish Development

Our Lady of Guadalupe in El Centro (1) and Our Lady of Guadalupe in Calexico (2) must relocate and rebuild their churches in order to respond adequately to the needs of the people. They cannot accomplish this without our financial help. Christ the King Mission in the Salton Sea area (3) needs its own center for worship and community activities.
